A baby blessing

December 19, 2008

Tbe baby blessing on Sunday for Siena was beautiful and things turned out better than I could have imagined! It was a hectic week getting ready for family to come in town and taking care of the baby. I think she was extra cranky from not getting much attention for a few days while I was doing things around the house. Then our garage door opener broke and a couple days later our furnace heater went out. Not to mention the leaky water faucet out front! Luckily my dad  and a friend were able to troubleshoot and help fix things so we didn’t have to pay so much to get everything serviced.

Saturday night we got snow for the first time this season. It actually stuck too! We don’t get good snow very often around here so it was quite beautiful. However, I got a call Sunday morning that church was canceled and we couldn’t do the baby blessing there. I was shocked because there was only 1″ of snow, but thankfully we were able to have our bishop come to our house and do it in our home with our family. It was actually very intimate and cozy! I may do this again next time! Now Siena has something in common with her cousin Kylan, who was also blessed in a home – at my uncle’s house.

Siena received her dress from “Oma”, my mom. It was her baby baptism dress when she was a baby, 51 years ago.  Vintage! I am going to shadowbox it now 🙂
